Announcement Date: December 1, 2005 ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE SPECIAL PROGRAMS FACILITATOR Missouri State University is accepting applications for an English Language Institute Special Programs Facilitator for the College of Continuing Education and the Extended University. Responsibilities include teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) courses; overseeing curriculum design; developing and overseeing new programs; organizing component meetings; conducting orientation for new teachers; supervising teachers, graduate teaching assistants, and practicum students; administering and evaluating tests; maintaining student records; and advising English Language Institute students. Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 hours of TESL coursework is required. Three years of experience teaching ESL or EFL courses in an accredited college or university, including at least one year of teaching in an Intensive English Program at an accredited college or university; demonstrated skills using Microsoft Office applications and conducting research using the internet; effective oral and written communication skills; and effective interpersonal skills are required. Overseas teaching experience at the university level and demonstrated professional involvement in the field by having presented at a conference and/or publishing in TESOL-related journals are preferred. Anticipated starting date January 3, 2005. Salary: $29,000/annually. Responsibilities include teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) courses; administering and evaluating tests; maintaining student records; assisting in curriculum design; and advising English Language Institute (ELI) students. Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or in a related field with a minimum of 18 hours of TESL coursework is required. Additional requirements: two years experience teaching ESL courses in an Intensive English Program at an accredited college or university; demonstrated skills using Microsoft Office applications and conducting research using the Internet; effective oral and written communication skills; and effective interpersonal skills. One year of teaching EFL overseas in an accredited college or university; demonstrated professional involvement in the field by having presented at a conference and/or publishing in TESOL-related journals; and fluency in at least one other language in addition to English are preferred. Continuation of position(s) is contingent on revenues generated. Anticipated starting date January 2006. Salary: $28,000/annually.
