14 Members present when Ron Long called the meeting to order.
Approval of Agenda
MOTION: Ron Long moved to accept the agenda.
Dennis and Barbara seconded. Motion was approved.
Motion: Karen moved to accept minute of previous meeting
DJ seconded. Motion was approved.
Treasurer’s Report, Cheryl Eason
- Nov1-Oct 31 fiscal year
- Report includes transactions since Cheryl took over last year
- Jeanne Angel commented that she was pleased to see the report in the newsletter.
- Ron commended Cheryl for her service
Membership Report (Teresa Bries – not present)
- 265 pre-conference members
- Ron mentioned that the order of conference locations is as follows:
- Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa
Newletter Editor’s Report (Karen Schwelle and Laura Stallings)
- Mailing and copy costs are about the same as last year
- Need to find different ways to distribute the newsletter – mailing service
or electronic means of distribution --- asked that suggestions be sent to
her by email
- Ron took an informal pole of those who would be affected by electronic
deliver
Nominating Committee (Tom Reidmiller, Past President, MIDTESOL)
- Susan Schindler is first vice-president elect
- Jan Harris VP of membership
- Paula Moore Secretary
- Lois Spitzer Socio-political concerns
- 30% return rate on elections, from all states

-Ron and Dennis may have found a member at large from Kansas
Current MIDTESOL Conference Report (Dennis Muchisky, Incoming President, MIDTESOL)
- 150 attendees at the conference
Awards Committee Report (Cathy Howard)
- One travel award to Christine Rosi from Cedar Rapids, Iowa
- Mike Williams awarded for 2002 conference
- Pat on the back awards: Susan Schindler and Jeanne Angel
- Pat on the back awards are life-time memberships

Iowa (LaDonna Brunk)
- Wm. Penn college offering grants for ICN telecommunications network for
education programs for endorsements
- Testing training for Title 3 testing – 15 people will attend English Language
Learning Summit in D.C.
- Launching on Nov. 4 a translation service via website, available throughout
the state for forms used by K-12
- State Meeting will be Feb 18, 19, and 20 in Des Moines at Airport Holiday
Inn
- Ron emphasized the high quality of the conference

- Missouri TESOL will be in Springfield March 14-15

Since Sept., there have been 11,000 hits
Calla said many affiliates don’t have links with TESOL
Ron encouraged sending William any ideas for the website
TESOL in Baltimore (Tom Reidmiller, MIDTESOL Past President)
- Morris Dees from Southern Poverty center is key note speaker
- Tom emphasized a number of highlights
