A Publication of Mid-America Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
A Message from the Editors
Greetings, MIDTESOLers!
Please forgive our delay in getting out this
issue of the newsletter. As you can see, we have undergone a layout change,
informed, in part, by our attendance at the newsletter editors’ workshop at
TESOL 2001. It has taken longer than we anticipated to become familiar with
the new software we are using, but we can only hope that you found the wait
worthwhile as we have tried to collect articles of interest to MIDTESOL readers
and put them into a reader-friendly format.
In
this issue we look at conferences past and future. Rosa Schuette, a core planner
for TESOL 2001, shares her reflections on the conference last March, and Ron
Long, program chair for MIDTESOL 2001, conveys the central goals of the upcoming
regional conference in October. The newsletter includes a section that provides
conference details. Along with these items, you’ll find the regular features
of the newsletter: postcards from our members-at-large, an award winner contribution,
teaching tips, and book reviews. As always, we look forward to receiving material
submitted by MIDTESOL members. For guidelines on submissions, see page 21 in
this issue.
Finally,
the information in this newsletter is meant to be disseminated. So please share
this newsletter with colleagues who could benefit from the experience and ideas
of ESL professionals.
