A German Tale from the Brothers Grimm.
retold by David Esau
German

There was a little girl. She lived all alone. She had no bed and no house. She had no mom and dad.

One day she went into the words and a man came and he asked for bread because he didn't have bread. She gave him bread.
The girl went along and
another girl asked for her hat
and she gave it to her.
Then she went along and
another man came and asked
for a coat to keep dry and the
little girl gave her coat to him.
Then she went along and
another boy came and asked
for a sweater to keep warm
and the little girl gave her
sweater to the boy.

The little girl went along and came out of the woods. The little girl suddenly had a new dress on and some stars gave her gold and she put the gold in her apron. She used the gold to help other people and she lived happily ever after.
