Swap lesson plans with your friends and colleagues!! Open to all levels (K-12, Intensive English Programs, Adult ESL, ESL writing classes). Instructions: 1) Make 100 copies of your lesson plan (1-page; double-sided OK), indicate level; 2) Bring to Iowa City and turn in at registration Friday; 3) Pick up your packet on Saturday. General Information: All CONFERENCE activities will be held at The Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) on The University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. Iowa City is located thirty minutes from the Eastern Iowa Airport (formerly The Cedar Rapids Municipal Airport) and directly off of Interstate 80.
Registration: Advanced CONFERENCE registration is requested. On-site registration will be held in the Iowa Memorial Union. If an applicant cancels his/her registration prior to the opening of the CONFERENCEe, the registration fee, less a $10.00 handling fee, will be refunded. Blocks of rooms have been reserved at three local hotels (listed in detail below). Participants are encouraged to make early reservations, as hotel rooms are limited and will be released on September 14, 1999. Ask for MidAmerica TESOL block rates when making your reservation. The Iowa House (319) 335-3513 is located in the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU). Rates are $69 for 1-4 people plus tax per room per night. The City Plaza (800-848-1335 or locally at 319-337-4058) is located in downtown Iowa City, 4 blocks from The Iowa Memorial Union. Rates are $70 for single and $75 for double rooms plus tax per room per night. The Heartland Inn is located on 2nd Street in Coralville. Rates are $67 for 1-2 people and $71 for 2-4 people plus tax per room per night. Parking: CONFERENCEe parking is available in the IMU Parking Ramp and at the North Campus Ramp, located directly across from IMU and one block north of the IMU, respectively. Fees are $.60 per hour or $6.00 per day. (Parking is free at the IMU Parking Ramp for participants staying at the Iowa House Hotel.) Additional parking is available at city lots within walking distance of the IMU. Maps will be mailed to registrants with their CONFERENCEe confirmation letter.
