30th Anniversary Celebration

April 26 , 2008

In celebration of the 30 years of MIDTESOL’s affiliation with TESOL, a commemorative luncheon was held on April 26, 2008 at the Holiday Inn St. Louis South with special invited guests of 1978 founding members, past presidents 1978-2007, Pat-On-The-Back Awardees, and Executive Board members.  It was a delightful time of reminiscing and sharing among participants as they enjoyed a refreshing menu of salads, sandwiches, and wraps with iced tea and coffee, topped off with a delicious slice of cake.  A speech from the MIDTESOL President Mary Barratt expressing to appreciation and recognition to the invited guests was read in her regretted absence.

Those guests in attendance were Genevieve “Gen” Lennon (Founding Member, President 1979 and 1987, Pat-On-The Back 1996), Ron Long (Founding Member, Pat-On-The-Back 1996, President 2001), Phyllis Mithen (Founding Member, President 1991 and 1998, Pat-On-The-Back 2001), Barbara Schwarte (President 1984, Pat-On-the-Back 1997), Adelaide Parsons (President 1988, Pat-On-The-Back 1997), Susan Schindler (Pat-On-The-Back 2002, President 2003), Barbara Adelman (President 2005), Jan Rodriguez (President 2006), Margaret Silver (Executive Board Member), and Leslie Wolk (Executive Board Member).

Special thanks and appreciation go to Susan Schindler and Jan Rodriguez for coordinating this event.  The luncheon and four pre-luncheon interviews recorded for a video presentation in honor of MIDTESOL’s 30 years of service to be shared at the 2008 Fall conference at Storm Lake, IA.
